Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Abiding Word Church in Sterling, IL, with Rev. Dr. Scott D. Porter, pastor of Abiding Word Church, officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Fenton Cemetery in Fenton, IL. A memorial has been established to Morrison Community Daycare Center. Verna was born July 30, 1929, in Prophetstown, IL, to McKinley and Hazel G. (Lawrence) Pickens. She was educated in several area grade schools and was a graduate of York Community High School in Thomson, IL. On September 16, 1950, she married Marvin J.
